very dissapointed not as advertised

the room was so clean and comfortable as well as the rest of hotel ,even tho old .the bed was so comfortable ,seems family run so have pride in it not like other hotels i have stayed at....bit of confusion regards booking terms but that was down to my error and owner sorted out so highly recommended

The food was lovely and very reasonably priced.

We were extremely disapointed that the pool was not available during our stay. We were not advised of this before our arrival and were not offered any kind of discount. Even a small token such as a bottle of complementary wine would have been a nice gesture.

The hotel was great! The building was lovely and had so much character. There was beautiful scenery. Breakfast was great, even for vegetarians. I think my favourite bit was the bar. They don't staff it when it's quiet, so it's a "help yourself" bar (you pay when you leave). It was really fun pulling a pint and comfortable place to sit where we could play our own CDs. A great base for travelling around the lake district.

The whole experience was a pleasure! We booked last minute and were so pleased with our stay! The building is lovely, the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was superb and well worth the money! The room was lovely and the bed was Very comfy! =)

Picturesque location. Lovely room. The bed was very comfortable. Excellent food in the restaurant. Friendly staff.

The grounds are a little un-kept. We were there for two nights and on each night there was an organised function in a marquee in the grounds. The hotel didn't inform us these would be occurring when we booked our stay. Music could be easily heard until midnight, which was not in line with our quiet countryside getaway expectations.

It was a very last minute booking and the price of two was very reasonable.

no hot water on the fri nite and sat morning and the hotel management seems very lax, noone to meet u at the reception with the keys to the room just left on the reception desk for anyone to pick up.

Lovely rural hotel sandwiched between the sea and the Lake District. Very comfortable rooms and attentive staff. Arriving late in the evening after a long, busy day was no problem.

Good food. Lovely large room with a great view.

Pool out of use and not informed prior to stay (main reason for booking this hotel). Shower small and slightly mouldy.

The hotel is in a very secluded and peaceful area. The facilities are really good. Comfortable bed and superb views. Excellent food both for breakfast and Dinner.

Rooms were comfortable and evening meals were superb with large portions. staff were friendly and very helpful.

Swimming pool looked very clean, bed was extremely comfortable and we slept like babies, beautiful countryside, very professional and outstanding service, really enjoyed our stay. Our room was right at the top of the stairs - but didnt hear a thing all night. They had bike rentals, and are just a short drive away from the beach.

The shower in the en-suite let the whole room down, needed a bottle of bleach for the mould, but with it being an old building they probably arent allowed to put vents in, so I supose its understandable that it can easily get like that, the rest of the bathroom/bedroom/hotel was spotless. My boyfriend complained the shower wasnt hot enough, I thought it was okay.

Lovely place, very homely feel and gorgeous views, good value for money

Staff member who checked us in didn't know anything about the place and even had to ask a 5 year old girl to find our room...We weren't given any information about breakfast/meal times and there was no info left in room (reception numbers/meal info/ local info) as I would have expected. Different staff member who checked us out couldn't work the card machine and we had to wait 5 mins for anyone to actually check us out - could easily have left without paying! Would have been perfect if not for these points, however we still enjoyed our overnight stop here.
